Last 1/2 day ideas?
Hi All! We are staying in the historic district & we have a car. We leave for the airport tomorrow at 12:30pm. We have done all of downtown, the squares, etc...we also did Tybee Island (No Hilton Head bc of the tournament) Any suggestions on what we can do on our last day (few hrs) here? TY!
It sounds like you’ve already explored some of the key sights in Savannah, but there’s still plenty to enjoy in the last few hours of your trip! Since you’re staying in the Historic District and have a car, here are a few options that could be perfect for your last half-day in town:
- Visit Bonaventure Cemetery: This iconic cemetery is a beautiful spot for a stroll, with its grand oak trees, historic graves, and beautiful sculptures. It’s only a short drive from the Historic District and provides a peaceful and scenic place to reflect and enjoy the surroundings. It’s not far from downtown, so you can easily make your way there and still have time to head to the airport.
- Stop by the Wormsloe Historic Site: If you haven’t yet seen this famous avenue of oak trees, it’s a stunning spot for photos and a quick walk. The oak-lined drive is one of the most picturesque spots in Savannah, and it’s a great way to experience the natural beauty of the area. The site has a small entrance fee but is worth it for the photo opportunities.
- Explore the Savannah Botanical Gardens: Located just a short drive from downtown, the Savannah Botanical Gardens are perfect for a relaxing visit. You can wander through the lush gardens, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, and take in the beauty of Savannah’s plant life before you head to the airport.
- Take a Riverboat Cruise: If you haven’t yet done a riverboat tour, it’s a fun way to see the city from the water. Several companies offer short river tours that will give you a quick overview of the city’s waterfront and historic areas. The tours last around 1–2 hours and are a great way to end your trip in a relaxed manner.
- Shopping at City Market or Broughton Street: If you still have time to do a bit of shopping or enjoy a quick bite, head to City Market or Broughton Street. You can pick up some souvenirs, browse through local boutiques, or enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants or cafes in the area. If you’ve missed a chance to sample some local cuisine, this could be the perfect opportunity to grab a quick lunch or snack before heading to the airport.
These activities should give you a bit more of Savannah’s charm while leaving you with enough time to get to the airport for your flight. Enjoy your last few hours in this beautiful city!
