New Bedford day trip?

Now that there is commuter rail service to New Bedford, could it be a day trip destinstion.

I know the whaling museum is there. What else is there. Can you walj to anything worthwhile from the train station?

I have only been there once, at night decades ago, fir some sort of Portuguese festival. It was great! I judt don’t know much about the area.
