Sleeping corners in HKIA after arrival

We will be aariving in HongKong at exactly 12am. Can somebody help us where can we spend the night inside Hongkong international airport after arrival. We can only check in on our hotel at 2pm the following day.

Arriving at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at midnight gives you several options for spending the night inside the airport, as you won’t be able to check into your hotel until 2pm the next day. HKIA is well-equipped for transit passengers and overnight stays.

Here are your main options:

  • Airport Lounges: Some lounges operate 24 hours and allow paid access even if you are not flying in business class. These lounges typically have comfortable seating, snacks, Wi-Fi, and sometimes reclining chairs or small nap areas. Examples include:
    • Plaza Premium Lounge (near gates 1–24 and 40–59, open 24 hours)
    • DragonPass lounges (various locations, 24-hour access)
  • Rest Zones / Sleeping Areas: HKIA has designated quiet zones with padded benches and recliners suitable for napping. These are usually located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 public areas. Key spots include:
    • Near Gate 40–59 (Terminal 1, after security)
    • Near Gate 1–24 (Terminal 1, after security)
    • Some areas in Terminal 2, though fewer amenities are available
  • Airport Hotels: If you prefer a proper bed, HKIA has hotels within or adjacent to the airport:
    • Regal Airport Hotel (inside Terminal 1, connected via covered walkway)
    • Aerotel Airport Transit Hotel (inside Terminal 2, for short stays or overnight)
  • Other Tips:
    • Bring a travel blanket or small pillow for more comfortable rest in seating areas.
    • Keep your luggage secure; use lockers or keep it close if sleeping in public areas.
    • Security patrols run overnight, so make sure you are in designated or monitored areas to avoid being asked to move.

Overall, the most convenient and comfortable option is a combination of using a 24-hour lounge or airport hotel if you prefer privacy and a proper bed. Otherwise, HKIA’s designated rest zones offer reasonable comfort for a few hours of sleep before heading to your hotel in the afternoon.
