Late night airport transfer to Tsim Sha Tsui

We will arriving in Hong Kong on 22nd November. From what I have read ordinarily I think the airport express would be the best way to travel on to Tsim Sha Tsui. However, as our flight doesn't land until 23.15 and it is our first visit, I am thinking it might be best to prebook a taxi transfer.

Advice on this approach would be welcome please, or alternative suggestions, together with recommended taxi / transport companies.

Many thanks

Arriving in Hong Kong at 23:15 presents a few considerations for transfer to Tsim Sha Tsui. While the Airport Express is generally the fastest and most convenient option, its last train departs around midnight, and it requires a short shuttle or walk to reach Tsim Sha Tsui. Given your late arrival and first-time visit, prebooking a taxi or private transfer may provide a smoother and more comfortable experience.

Options for late-night airport transfer:

  • Airport Express + Shuttle: The Airport Express runs from Hong Kong International Airport to Hong Kong Station in Central. From there, a free shuttle bus runs to major hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui. Given your 23:15 arrival, you may catch the last trains depending on customs and baggage clearance, but timing is tight.
  • Prebooked Taxi/Private Transfer: Prebooking ensures a driver is waiting for you upon arrival, which is more convenient with luggage and after a long flight. Travel time to Tsim Sha Tsui is approximately 30–40 minutes depending on traffic.
  • Regular Airport Taxi: Hong Kong taxis are available 24/7 at the airport. Taxis to Tsim Sha Tsui are usually red urban taxis and cost roughly HKD 300–400, depending on traffic and time of night.

Recommended approach and tips:

  • For a late-night arrival, a prebooked private transfer or airport taxi is generally safer and more convenient, especially for a first visit and a group with luggage.
  • Reliable transfer companies include:
    • KKday Hong Kong Airport Transfers
    • Citilink Airport Transfer Service
    • Local private limousine or taxi services arranged via hotel concierge
  • Ensure you provide flight number, arrival time, and number of passengers when booking in advance.
  • Allow extra time in case of customs, immigration, or luggage delays.

Alternative budget option:

  • If you are comfortable navigating, take the last Airport Express train to Hong Kong Station, then a taxi or MTR from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui. This may save a small amount compared to a private transfer but adds complexity with luggage and late-night travel.

In summary, for a 23:15 arrival, prebooking a taxi or private transfer is the most practical and stress-free choice, especially for first-time visitors with luggage. Airport Express is an option only if timing allows, but private transfer ensures a guaranteed and direct ride to your hotel.
