Beiing Hotel Choice
Looking at options and have a couple on my shortlist?
Would be greatful for views
Grand Millenium vs Park Plaza
The former seems to be slighter nicer hotel - the later included breakfast and looks to be in better location (from research of "where to stay?" type posts and maps.
We are a little restricted for choice as our party is 3 adults, and for the 5 nights that we are there (and mostly out!) I would rather stretch budget to better hotel than 2 rooms!
Beijing Tangfu Nanluoguxiang was in the running but I can only find reviews on the booking platform - I do prefer to look at reviews from a number of sources - if anyone has any experience of this I would be grateful to hear!
Thanks
Hi,
Choosing a hotel in Beijing depends on a balance between comfort, location, and convenience for sightseeing, especially when traveling with a small group. Based on your shortlist, here’s a detailed comparison and some advice:
- Grand Millennium Beijing: This is a higher-end hotel with modern amenities, spacious rooms, and very comfortable bedding. It is well-suited if you want a more luxurious stay and are spending long hours resting in the hotel. However, it might be slightly farther from some central attractions, meaning you may rely more on taxis or Didi rides.
- Park Plaza Wangfujing: The Park Plaza is located in a very central area, near Wangfujing Street and within walking distance to Dongcheng sights, including the Forbidden City. Breakfast is included, which can save time and money in the mornings. The rooms are slightly smaller and less luxurious compared to the Grand Millennium, but the location is very convenient, especially if you plan to be out sightseeing most of the day.
- Tangfu Nanluoguxiang: This option is more boutique-style and located in the historic Hutong area, close to Nanluoguxiang and cultural spots. It’s charming for a more local experience, but may not offer the same level of comfort or facilities as the other two. Reviews are limited on multiple platforms, so it can be riskier if you prefer well-documented experiences.
Additional considerations:
- If your party is mostly out sightseeing and wants convenience, Park Plaza Wangfujing’s location could save significant travel time and allow for walking to nearby attractions.
- If comfort and room quality are a priority and you don’t mind commuting a bit, Grand Millennium is the more luxurious choice.
- Since you are a group of 3 adults and want to stay in one room rather than book two, make sure to check bed arrangements and room size before booking.
- Check transport links—both hotels are near metro lines, but centrality may reduce taxi or Didi costs during peak hours.
Overall, if sightseeing and centrality are more important, Park Plaza is probably better. If comfort and luxury are your priority, Grand Millennium is the way to go. Tangfu Nanluoguxiang is appealing for a boutique experience but less predictable.
