Beverly Grove

My husband, our 8 year old and myself are visiting for 2 nights next month and still need to pick a hotel. Originally we were thinking of staying in Santa Monica but have been made aware of the Beverly grove area. We will have a car to go see things we want. For the hotel we would like something clean, safe and walking distance to a few restaurants so we don’t have to drive everywhere. We are considering the Beverly Laurel as the price is very good and includes free parking but I can’t tell if this is a nice hotel or not. Does anyone have experience staying here? Pros or cons?

Thank you

Beverly Grove is a great option for a short Los Angeles stay, especially if you want a central location with a mix of restaurants and shops within walking distance. It sits between West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, making it convenient for exploring major attractions while avoiding the longer drive to Santa Monica if your focus isn’t the beach.

The Beverly Laurel Hotel is a boutique-style property that often gets mixed reviews but can be a good value, especially considering free parking—a rare perk in LA. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

  • Pros:
    • Good location in Beverly Grove, close to restaurants, coffee shops, and some shopping (Melrose Avenue and Fairfax District are nearby).
    • Free parking included, which is very convenient in LA and a big cost-saver.
    • Rooms are generally clean, modern, and comfortable with standard amenities.
    • Small boutique feel—more personal than large chain hotels.
    • Quiet neighborhood for an urban area, making it family-friendly for short stays.
  • Cons:
    • It’s not a luxury hotel—expect functional decor rather than high-end finishes.
    • Some reviews mention small room sizes, which may feel tight for three people, especially with luggage.
    • No on-site restaurant or extensive amenities like a pool or gym, so dining and entertainment require a short walk or drive.
    • Street parking nearby can be limited, though you have the free hotel parking.

Other hotel options in Beverly Grove / nearby for families who want easy dining access and safety include:

  • The Kimpton La Peer Hotel – boutique, modern, in West Hollywood, very safe, and close to restaurants and nightlife (more upscale than Beverly Laurel).
  • The Line Hotel – nearby Koreatown, offers family-friendly rooms and a lively urban environment with easy dining options.
  • Loews Hollywood Hotel – slightly further east, safe, well-known brand with family amenities and easy freeway access.

Overall, for a two-night stay with an 8-year-old and a car, the Beverly Laurel is a solid choice if your priorities are clean, safe accommodations with free parking and a convenient restaurant area. If you want a more upscale experience or additional hotel amenities, you could consider one of the boutique options nearby, but the location of Beverly Laurel is central and practical for sightseeing.
