Does this plan sound good

So I will be flying to LA next month on a Tuesday and spending a week in Anaheim (3 days Disneyland and 3 days vidcon). This will be my first time visiting the area since I was a toddler 45 years ago so I am trying to make the most of my trip. The only time I have to see LA is on the day of my arrival before heading to our hotel in Anaheim. Our flight lands at 11:08 at LAX with breeze airlines so this is my plan, let me know if it sounds good.

I read that Breeze arrives at terminal B then we have to take a bus to terminal 1 where baggage claim is. My plan is to take the flyaway bus to Union station, store our bags with the Amtrak baggage storage, then take an uber to West Hollywood, eat lunch at Joe’s pizza, walk a bit of the walk of fame, do the original Hollywood tour from 2-4pm to see all of the major LA sights, then take an uber back to Union station, get our bags and take the 5:10 train to Anaheim since I assume trying to drive to Anaheim at that time would be awful.

I figure this way we can see most of the sights since I don’t have any other time during my trip and can not change my flight days (I already checked this). I do know that this will be a very long day (our flight is 6 hours from RI) so we will have been up since the wee hours of the morning that day I am hoping to catch a few hours sleep on the plane.

Your plan is ambitious, but doable if you are comfortable with a long day and limited rest. Since you’ll be arriving at LAX at 11:08 am after a 6-hour flight, it’s important to factor in customs, baggage retrieval, terminal transfers, and potential delays. Breeze Airlines arriving at Terminal B, then transferring to Terminal 1 for baggage claim, could take 30–45 minutes depending on crowd and shuttle wait times.

Here’s a breakdown and some considerations for your LA layover day:

  • FlyAway Bus to Union Station: The FlyAway bus is a reliable option and avoids the hassle of LA traffic. However, factor in at least 45–60 minutes for the ride and any wait time.
  • Baggage storage at Union Station: Using Amtrak baggage storage is convenient, but ensure you have exact pickup times and note that some lines can be long.
  • West Hollywood itinerary: Walking the Hollywood Walk of Fame and doing the original Hollywood tour from 2–4 pm is feasible. Keep in mind LA traffic and Uber pickup/dropoff times, as midday traffic can be moderate but unpredictable.
  • Return to Union Station: Give yourself at least 45–60 minutes to get back, retrieve luggage, and navigate to the train for Anaheim. The 5:10 pm train should be manageable if everything runs on time, but any delays could make it stressful.

Additional tips and alternatives:

  • If you prefer less risk and less rush, consider shortening your LA visit: maybe just lunch and a quick drive-by tour of Hollywood/West Hollywood landmarks.
  • Ensure you have pre-booked the Hollywood tour and confirmed pickup/dropoff points.
  • Bring snacks, water, and anything to help you stay alert; a short nap on the plane may not fully counteract travel fatigue.
  • Consider travel time buffer: if any step is delayed, you could miss part of the tour or the train to Anaheim.
  • Traffic in LA can be unpredictable; using Uber is smart to avoid parking, but always add extra time for pickup delays.

Overall, your plan will let you see major LA sights in a single day, but it will be a long and tiring day. If you’re comfortable with early wakeup, limited sleep, and a packed schedule, it’s achievable. Otherwise, a slightly scaled-back visit with fewer stops may reduce stress and allow more enjoyment.

Summary suggestion:

  • Arrival and terminal transfer: 11:15–12:00 pm
  • FlyAway to Union Station and baggage storage: 12:00–1:00 pm
  • Uber to West Hollywood and lunch: 1:00–2:00 pm
  • Hollywood Tour: 2:00–4:00 pm
  • Uber back to Union Station and retrieve bags: 4:00–4:45 pm
  • Train to Anaheim: 5:10 pm departure

This itinerary is tight but reasonable if you stick to the schedule and account for minor delays.
