Hiking AND wineries near Windsor CA

We are two seniors spending 3.5 days in Windsor before heading north for the redwoods. We would like to take a 3 mile or less hike in the morning and go to a winery in the afternoon. Definitely want to go to Le Crema Winery, unsure of any other. We love trees, flowers and scenic views. Also unsure of how to spend our evenings.

Can anyone help please?

Windsor is a lovely base for combining short hikes with wine tasting. With 3.5 days, you can enjoy morning walks and afternoons at wineries without feeling rushed. Here’s a suggested approach:

For short hikes (around 3 miles or less) that are scenic and not too strenuous, consider these options:

  • Windsor Town Green & Foothill Trails: Easy, flat walks near town with lovely tree-lined paths and flower gardens, perfect for a morning stroll.
  • Foothill Regional Park: Several trails under 3 miles with gentle inclines, oak trees, and panoramic views of the valley. Great for enjoying nature without a strenuous hike.
  • Sonoma Overlook Trail: Approximately 2.5 miles round trip with moderate elevation, offering sweeping views of Sonoma Valley and plenty of scenic spots for photos.

For wineries, besides Le Crema Winery, there are several excellent nearby options to consider for afternoon tastings:

  • Ridge Vineyards: Known for elegant Pinot Noir and beautiful hilltop views.
  • St. Francis Winery & Vineyards: Scenic grounds with rose gardens and a broad selection of varietals.
  • Gundlach Bundschu: Historic winery with lovely picnic areas and classic Sonoma charm.
  • Joel Gott Wines: Offers casual tastings with a modern, relaxed vibe.

For evenings in Windsor, there are a few enjoyable options without needing to drive far:

  • Take a relaxed dinner at local restaurants in Windsor or nearby Healdsburg—many offer outdoor seating and wine from local vineyards.
  • Attend a tasting event or evening wine flight at a nearby winery if available, as some host special evening sessions.
  • Explore downtown Windsor or Healdsburg for small shops, cafes, and local art galleries—perfect for a leisurely evening stroll.

With this mix, you can enjoy morning walks immersed in nature, midday and afternoon winery experiences, and pleasant, relaxed evenings exploring local towns. Most activities are senior-friendly and manageable in terms of distance and effort.
