Parking in LoDo on game day

Hello! I’m bringing my niece (18) for a few days in Boulder as a graduation trip. We have an early flight out of Denver early on Friday the 27th, so we plan on spending the night before at an airport hotel. On Thursday the 26th, we would like to explore Denver a bit. I see that there is a Rockies game at 1:10 PM and since she has never been to an MLB game before, I thought that could be fun, even tho we are not necessarily Rockies fans. My question is where is the best place to park in LoDo so that we can explore a bit before and after the game? It seems like Larimer Square and the Dairy block are close by and would be fun. I am assuming it will be walkable and safe?

Follow up question is how hard will it be to get a last-minute ticket on a June afternoon? I have been in stadiums in the summer that are half empty, but the opposite has also been true. It may be a “game time decision” so I don’t want to order advance tickets.

Thanks for any helpful hints (at all) about LoDo and Coors Field!

LoDo (Lower Downtown Denver) is a very walkable and safe area for exploring before and after a Rockies game. The neighborhood has a mix of historic buildings, restaurants, bars, and entertainment options, making it an ideal spot to spend a few hours even if you’re not die-hard baseball fans.

Parking options near Coors Field:

  • Official Coors Field lots: These are convenient and within a short walk to the stadium. Prices vary by game but expect around $20–$30 for game day parking.
  • Private parking garages: There are several nearby garages near Larimer Square, Dairy Block, and Market Street that can be reserved in advance. They offer safe, secure parking and are typically within a 5–10 minute walk of the ballpark.
  • Street parking: Limited metered street parking exists, but meters may have time restrictions and high demand on game days, so this is not recommended for long stays.

Exploring LoDo:

  • Larimer Square: Full of shops, restaurants, and bars. Very walkable and lively, especially on game days.
  • Dairy Block: A trendy, smaller area with a mix of boutique food, art, and local shops. Easy to explore on foot.
  • Union Station: A beautiful historic train station with restaurants and cafés nearby, only a few blocks from Coors Field.

Tickets and game attendance:

  • For a June afternoon game, last-minute tickets can often be found, especially for weekday games, though popular matchups may sell out faster. Apps like Ticketmaster, StubHub, or SeatGeek are useful for last-minute digital tickets.
  • Consider arriving early to explore LoDo and grab food or drinks; sometimes ticket prices are lower closer to game time, but popular sections may have limited availability.
  • Even if you can’t get prime seats, standing room or upper-level tickets still offer a good experience for first-time attendees.

Additional tips:

  • Walking from a nearby garage or your parked car is easy and safe in LoDo; the area is well-lit and generally very pedestrian-friendly.
  • Plan to arrive at least 60–90 minutes before the game to enjoy the pre-game atmosphere and explore nearby attractions.
  • If you prefer to avoid parking stress, rideshare options (Uber, Lyft) are plentiful in LoDo and drop-off/pick-up zones are clearly marked near Coors Field.

In summary, LoDo is a vibrant, walkable area with convenient parking options. You should be able to enjoy the neighborhood, catch a Rockies game, and explore a bit more before heading to your airport hotel the next day.
