Hi , I am trying to organize my summer trip. we are big family going to drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles . we have 8 people and 5/6 bags, I was trying to book a car but it just show me 6 people cars( Hertz, . We have one driver so we cannot rent two cars. Can someone advise where to look?

For your trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles with 8 people and 5-6 bags, renting a single vehicle can be tricky, as most rental companies offer cars that are limited to 6 passengers. However, there are several options you can consider that should meet your needs.

  • Full-size SUVs or Minivans: Look for full-size SUVs or minivans with higher passenger capacities. Some of the larger models can accommodate up to 8 people, especially if you choose a model like the Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition, or Toyota Sequoia. These vehicles also provide decent luggage space, but you may need to check if the trunk area can hold 5-6 bags comfortably.
  • Passenger Vans: Consider renting a passenger van, which is designed for larger groups and can fit 8 passengers and luggage. Popular options include the Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Metris. These vans are often used for group travel, and many rental companies offer them for long trips like yours. You can check with companies like Enterprise, Hertz, or Budget to see if they offer these types of vans in their fleet.
  • Luxury SUVs or Large SUVs: If you're looking for a more comfortable and premium experience, consider renting a luxury SUV like the Cadillac Escalade or a Range Rover. These tend to offer more space and amenities, though they may be more expensive. Again, check with the major rental companies for availability.

If you are having trouble finding suitable options on the websites, I recommend calling the rental locations directly. They might have larger vehicles available, especially for family or group travel. It’s also a good idea to book early, as these larger vehicles tend to be in high demand during peak travel times like summer.

Alternatively, if you’re willing to consider a ride-sharing or private transportation service, there are options like booking a private shuttle or a chauffeured vehicle, which can sometimes be more comfortable for long drives with a large group.

Good luck with your planning, and I hope you find a vehicle that suits your needs!
