We have been driving for several years up to the Ellsworth area from New Jersey and last year the traffic was awful. We were thinking this year of leaving a day early and just spending the night somewhere in northern NH up to the Portland area. We aren't looking for a resort, just a safe place to spend the night. Any suggestions on either motels or even areas we should consider? Thank you!
