Labor Day Weekend Trip
We’ve been to New Orleans a couple times on day trips from Biloxi. We are coming for four nights over Labor Day weekend and staying at Caesars. Our flight lands near 10pm. Any recommendations on a late night restaurant nearby? Also, the next morning, we’ll want to grab some drinks for our room - maybe some beer and a small bottle of vodka. Any recommendations where we could purchase near Caesar’s? TIA.
Arriving late in New Orleans over Labor Day weekend and staying at Caesars, you’ll want options that are convenient, open late, and within walking distance or a short ride from your hotel. While the French Quarter has the most late-night dining, there are a few spots on or near Canal Street that cater to night owls.
For a late-night bite on your arrival night:
- Café du Monde: Classic beignets and coffee, open 24 hours. Located about a 10-minute walk from Caesars. Great for a sweet, quick snack.
- Johnny’s Po-Boys: Casual, late-night po’boys, sandwiches, and seafood. Usually open until midnight or later on weekends.
- Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria: Near the French Quarter, casual Mexican food and quick bites. Open late, depending on the day.
For picking up drinks to have in your room the next morning:
- CVS or Walgreens: Both have locations near Caesars (some within a 5–10 minute walk). They carry beer, small bottles of spirits, mixers, and snacks. Check their signage for store hours, especially during holiday weekends.
- Local liquor stores: Some smaller liquor stores around Canal Street stock beer, wine, and spirits in convenient sizes. Examples include Crescent City Spirits and Curbside Spirits, though it’s best to confirm hours ahead of time.
- Hotel gift shops: Caesars may offer a small selection of beer, wine, and spirits in their gift shop or bar; often pricier than retail but convenient if arriving late.
Other tips:
- Since your flight lands around 10pm, consider calling ahead to confirm late-night hours of any restaurant or store.
- For a quick trip to buy drinks, walking to a nearby CVS or Walgreens is usually easier than navigating busy streets or traffic after a late flight.
- New Orleans alcohol laws allow 24-hour sales for packaged liquor in certain stores, but verify local signage, especially on holiday weekends.
With these options, you can have a smooth first night with a quick meal and stocked room for the next morning’s needs.
