Easy way to transfer terminals?

We are coming in on terminal 3 with checked luggage, but need to get to Carnaval shuttle buses going to cruise port, leaving port of terminal 1 . What is the easiest way to get there? TIA

At Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), transferring between terminals is fairly straightforward, even with checked luggage. Since you are arriving at Terminal 3 and need to get to Terminal 1 for the Carnival shuttle buses, you have several options depending on convenience, time, and luggage considerations.

Here are the main ways to transfer between terminals:

  • LAX Shuttle (Free “Airline Connections” Shuttle): LAX operates a free shuttle service that circulates among all terminals. Look for the blue signs labeled “LAX Shuttle” outside baggage claim. Take the shuttle heading toward Terminal 1. This is convenient with luggage, but allow extra time if the shuttle is busy.
  • Walking Between Terminals: Terminals 1 and 3 are fairly close, connected by pedestrian pathways outside. If you are comfortable walking with your luggage, this can be the quickest option, usually taking 5-10 minutes.
  • Ride-Share or Taxi: You could also take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. This is faster if the shuttle is crowded but may be slightly more expensive. The ride is short, usually under 5 minutes without traffic.
  • LAX Terminal Link Bus (G Shuttle): Another free option is the G Shuttle, which runs frequently between all terminals. It’s useful if you prefer to stay on airport transportation rather than walk outdoors.

Tips for a smooth transfer:

  • Check the Carnival shuttle boarding time and plan to arrive at Terminal 1 at least 15-20 minutes early.
  • If you have heavy or multiple pieces of luggage, the shuttle or ride-share options may be easier than walking.
  • Follow the green and blue signs for “Terminal Shuttle” or “LAX Shuttle” to avoid confusion.

Overall, the easiest combination for most travelers is either taking the free LAX shuttle or walking if your luggage is manageable, as it avoids waiting for a ride-share and is simple to navigate. Allow extra time during peak hours, as shuttles and walkways can be busy.
