Annual Visit to Pompano Beach
Hello fellow Travelers!
We are flying down to stay a week at Wyndham Palm-Aire in mid-December (been there numerous times). We own timeshares and book exchanges via RCI for this same week every December to relax and visit family who lives in the area.
As we haven't been there since LAST December, I am curious if anything major is going on, such as new restaurants opening in the area, restaurants closing recently, and so on. Some of our repeat visits to such local spots as Flanagan's and Zuckerello's are set as we meet family there for dinner, but we want to try new places this year. Also, we usually take a trip to Seminole Casino and eat at 1st St Deli there. Thanks for any feedback!
Hello! It sounds like you have a great routine for your annual visit to Pompano Beach, but it’s always nice to explore new places and experiences. Here’s an update on what's happening in the area and some recommendations for new spots to try this December:
In terms of new restaurants and recent changes to the dining scene around Pompano Beach, there have been a few notable openings and closings that you might want to check out:
- New Restaurants:
- The Bungalow: A popular new spot in nearby Deerfield Beach that’s gained a lot of buzz. The Bungalow offers casual dining with a laid-back, beachy vibe, and a great selection of seafood, burgers, and cocktails.
- Brunch & Nibble: A cozy new brunch spot in Pompano Beach, perfect for a casual morning out. Known for its delicious breakfast sandwiches, acai bowls, and coffee.
- The Dune: A trendy new restaurant located right on Pompano Beach, known for its fresh seafood and upscale casual atmosphere. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a place with ocean views and a great cocktail selection.
- Recent Restaurant Closures:
- Pompano Fish Market: Unfortunately, this local favorite closed down earlier this year. It was known for its fresh seafood and classic Florida fare, so if you had it on your list, it’s no longer open.
- Old Homestead Steakhouse: Another spot that closed recently was the Old Homestead Steakhouse, which had a long history but could not stay open after the pandemic.
If you’re looking for some new dining options aside from your usual favorites like Flanagan's and Zuckerello's, here are some great places to try in addition to the new spots mentioned:
- The Rusty Hook Tavern: This waterfront spot in Pompano Beach is a great option for casual dining with a beautiful view. Known for its fresh seafood and tropical drinks, it's perfect for a relaxed evening out.
- La Costa Oaxaqueña: A family-owned Mexican restaurant offering delicious authentic dishes with a great local vibe. It’s a great place for a casual dinner with plenty of options for all tastes.
- Funky Buddha Brewery: If you’re into craft beer, this brewery in nearby Oakland Park is a local favorite. It’s not far from Pompano Beach and offers a laid-back atmosphere with a wide selection of house-made beers and a full menu.
Regarding the Seminole Casino and 1st St Deli, it's great that you already have a routine there! The casino is always a good time, and 1st St Deli is known for its hearty sandwiches, which are perfect for a post-casino meal. While you’re at the casino, you might also want to check out the new dining options at their resort area. There have been some updates to the overall property, so it’s worth exploring if you have time.
In addition to food, if you have any downtime during your trip, you might want to consider checking out some new attractions or activities in the area:
- Pompano Beach Pier: The pier has recently undergone renovations, making it a great spot to visit. It’s ideal for a casual stroll, fishing, or enjoying a beautiful view of the ocean.
- Pompano Beach Aquatic Center: If you want a change of pace, this water park has a new lazy river and updated pools, perfect for a family day out.
- Butterfly World: A short drive away in Coconut Creek, Butterfly World is a lovely spot to visit if you haven’t been before. It’s a peaceful place to walk among thousands of butterflies and tropical birds.
Overall, it sounds like you’re in for another wonderful visit! Pompano Beach continues to evolve, and there’s always something new to discover. Hope this gives you some fresh ideas for your December trip!
