Na’Pali coast your close to Hyatt

We are looking for a small catamaran that goes through the caves that leaves from a dock that isn’t an hour away from the Hyatt. Any suggestions??

Also, if we leave at 8:30 or 9:00 are we unlikely to see dolphins at that hour?

Thank you!

The Na’Pali Coast is one of Kauai's most stunning natural wonders, and a catamaran tour is one of the best ways to explore the sea caves and dramatic coastline. If you're staying at the Hyatt Regency in Poipu, you won’t want to travel too far for a tour. Fortunately, there are several options close by that will take you out to the Na'Pali Coast without requiring an hour-long drive.

Here are a few options for catamaran tours that leave from docks relatively close to Poipu:

  • Captain Andy’s Sailing Adventures – They offer a variety of Na’Pali Coast tours that depart from Port Allen, which is about a 20-minute drive from the Hyatt. Their catamaran tours include visits to sea caves, snorkel stops, and breathtaking views of the coastline. Captain Andy’s also has tours that leave early, so you could potentially catch a morning dolphin sighting.
  • Blue Dolphin Charters – Located at the Port Allen Marina as well, Blue Dolphin Charters offers similar tours through the Na'Pali Coast and caves. They are well-reviewed and provide a comfortable experience for smaller groups. They also depart early in the morning, which gives you a good chance to see wildlife.
  • Holo Holo Charters – Also departing from Port Allen, Holo Holo Charters specializes in smaller, more intimate tours and offers both morning and afternoon excursions. They are known for their knowledgeable crew and the quality of the experience. They often go into the sea caves, weather permitting.

Regarding dolphin sightings, while dolphins can be spotted at various times throughout the day, early morning tours (around 8:30 or 9:00 AM) often have a higher likelihood of encountering them, as dolphins tend to be more active early in the day before the waters become busier with boats. That said, dolphin sightings can be unpredictable, and even on later tours, you may be lucky enough to spot them swimming alongside the boat!

Keep in mind that tours can fill up quickly, so it's a good idea to book in advance, especially if you're planning on going during peak times. Also, tours can be affected by weather, so be sure to check the forecast before booking. Enjoy your adventure on Kauai's stunning coastline!
