Hello! We are looking at going to hongkong in january for a week and possibly flying into chengdu first for a week. Is there a sleeper train between cities and will it be running in winter? I think a day train will be too long for our kids.

Traveling from Chengdu to Hong Kong by train is possible, but there are some important details to consider, especially for a winter trip with children.

1. Sleeper trains between Chengdu and Hong Kong:

There is no direct sleeper train from Chengdu to Hong Kong at the moment. The high-speed rail network does not extend all the way to Hong Kong with overnight trains.
Most travelers take the high-speed train to Guangzhou first (about 8–10 hours), and then transfer to a high-speed train or intercity train to Hong Kong (approximately 2 hours from Guangzhou South Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station).
