Outrigger canoe rides on waikiki beach.

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if other than the Outrigger on the Beach and Royal Hawaiian, is there any other location to do the Outrigger canoe ride? Is there any place closer to the Hale Koa military resort? Asking for friends who are staying there.

Thanks for any help.

Outrigger canoe rides are a popular activity on Waikiki Beach, and while the Outrigger on the Beach and Royal Hawaiian are two well-known spots to try this, there are other options around Waikiki that might be closer to the Hale Koa military resort, depending on your friends’ preferences and location.

Here are some alternatives where your friends could enjoy an Outrigger canoe ride, including options close to the Hale Koa:

  • Kaimana Beach (near Sans Souci Beach) – This location is just a short walk from the Hale Koa Resort and offers outrigger canoe rides through local operators. The beach is less crowded than the main section of Waikiki, so it's a more peaceful experience.
  • Waikiki Beach Services – Located closer to the heart of Waikiki, Waikiki Beach Services offers group and private outrigger canoe rides. They are located near the Moana Surfrider and the Sheraton Waikiki. It’s just a 10-15 minute walk from Hale Koa along the beachfront path.
  • Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Company – Another great provider located in the Waikiki area, offering authentic outrigger canoe experiences. They offer rides that range from leisurely paddles to more adventurous tours. This one is just a little further down the beach from the Royal Hawaiian, but still in the general Waikiki area.
  • Surf N Sea – Located on the northern shore of Oahu in Haleiwa, while it’s farther from the Hale Koa Resort, Surf N Sea offers outrigger canoe rides and is a great option for those willing to travel beyond Waikiki for a more authentic North Shore experience.

In summary, there are definitely other options besides the Outrigger and Royal Hawaiian, and Kaimana Beach (close to Hale Koa), as well as Waikiki Beach Services, would be convenient alternatives for your friends. These locations should offer a similar experience with beautiful views of the coast and a fun way to explore Waikiki's waters.
