Price of taxi to Voco Hotel

Can someone please tell me the price of a taxi from the Airport to the Voco Hotel. We arrive at about 5 pm and I believe the metro is cheaper and maybe faster but we are likely to be tired after a long flight. I don’t want to download the Disk app. Any help would be appreciated

For a taxi from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN) to the Voco Hotel in central Guangzhou, you have a few practical considerations. Since you are arriving around 5 PM, this will coincide with the evening traffic peak, so travel time may be longer than usual.

Here is what you can expect:

  • Taxi fare: Standard metered taxis from the airport to downtown Guangzhou generally cost between 160–200 CNY (~25–30 USD), depending on traffic. Extra fees may apply for airport pickup (about 10–20 CNY) and luggage handling.
  • Travel time: In normal traffic, it can take 40–60 minutes to reach central Guangzhou. During peak evening hours, allow for 60–90 minutes.
  • Payment: Most airport taxis accept cash in CNY. Some may accept Alipay or WeChat Pay, but cash is universally accepted.

Alternative option:

  • Metro: The metro is cheaper (around 8–12 CNY per person) and avoids traffic jams. However, you will need to transfer lines and carry luggage, which can be tiring after a long flight.
  • Airport express + taxi combination: Take the Guangzhou Airport Express to Jiahewanggang Station (about 30 min, 8 CNY), then transfer to a taxi for a shorter ride to the Voco Hotel. This can save some cost and time in heavy traffic.

In conclusion, if comfort and convenience after a long flight are your priority, a taxi directly from the airport is the simplest choice, even if slightly more expensive than the metro.
