Luggage storage near San Pedro
Hi, I’m having trouble finding luggage storage duringa five day backpack on Catalina. Because we’re ending in two harbors we are going in and out from the San Pedro ferry terminal. Anyone know of a place around that ferry terminal?
Finding luggage storage near the San Pedro ferry terminal can be a bit challenging since there aren’t dedicated lockers at the terminal itself. However, there are several options nearby that travelers commonly use for short-term storage while heading to Catalina Island.
Here are some options to consider:
- Local Luggage Storage Services: Apps and websites like LuggageHero, Vertoe, and Bounce allow you to book luggage storage at local shops, hotels, or other businesses. You can search specifically for San Pedro or near the Catalina Express terminal. These services are convenient for daily rates or even multi-day storage.
- Hotels near the ferry terminal: Some hotels in San Pedro allow non-guests to store luggage for a fee or with prior arrangement. You can call ahead to ask about short-term storage for your five-day backpacking trip.
- Catalina Express check-in policies: While the ferry itself doesn’t provide long-term storage, some travelers coordinate their arrival and departure times to leave gear with hotel partners on Catalina and only carry essentials for day trips.
Additional tips:
- Book storage in advance if possible, especially during peak seasons or weekends, as options can fill up quickly.
- Check the opening hours of any storage service to ensure it aligns with your ferry schedules.
- Consider using secure, insured storage services to protect your gear, particularly for a multi-day backpacking trip.
- If you are staying at a hotel in San Pedro before or after your Catalina trip, many will accommodate luggage even if you are not checking in for a full night—call ahead to confirm.
Overall, while the ferry terminal itself lacks lockers, nearby luggage storage services and certain hotels offer practical solutions. Planning ahead and reserving storage will give you peace of mind during your Catalina Island adventure.
