Your favorite place in Lake City...........

Hello:

I'd like to know a decent place for breakfast in Lake City,

good coffee and also good american breakfast, nothing fancy

please...........rocco

Hey Rocco — great question. Lake City, FL has some solid breakfast spots that feel “local” and relaxed, as well as a few dependable diners. Here are a few places you’ll probably like: good coffee, good American breakfast, and nothing too fancy.

Here are some of my favorite spots to grab breakfast in Lake City:

  • The Café (Historic Downtown) — This is a very charming downtown place. They serve breakfast (fluffy omelettes, breakfast burritos), and their coffee is good — a nice local café feel.
  • Country Skillit — A down-home, Southern-cooking-style diner. Breakfast all day, lots of classic comfort food (biscuits & gravy, eggs, hashbrowns), and very friendly service.
  • Shirley’s Restaurant — A local classic. According to the city guide, it’s well-loved for its “generous portions” and traditional Southern diner-style breakfast (eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits).
  • Denny’s — If you want something very reliable, classic American and 24-hour, Denny’s is there for you. Pancakes, skillets, eggs — and coffee, of course.
  • IHOP — Another chain, but solid for pancakes, omelettes, and a classic all-day breakfast menu. Good fallback if you want something familiar.
  • Waffle House — For that no-frills, diner feel and quick breakfast, Waffle House is a classic.

If I were in your shoes, looking for a relaxed, local place to start my morning — I’d lean toward Country Skillit or The Café in Downtown Lake City. Both feel genuine, serve great breakfast fare, and have decent coffee.

Hope that helps — enjoy your breakfast and your time in Lake City!
