Around noon, I visited the underground museum of Anıtkabir alone. The layout was well-organized from the entrance, so all I had to do was follow the path! The first section I encountered covered Atatürk's childhood and his time at military school. It displayed personal items like his report cards and letters, making the historical figure feel more like a real person rather than just someone from history books.
💡 Viewing Tip: Use the touchscreens at the entrance of each exhibition room to listen to the English explanations beforehand for better understanding!
The most impressive part in the middle section was the actual military uniforms and personal weapons used during the War of Independence. Especially in front of the marshal's uniform that Atatürk himself wore, many visitors stood silently observing. Each display case has a QR code that you can scan with your smartphone for more detailed information.
The final section showcased visual materials about the reform policies implemented after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. From women's suffrage to the alphabet reform, you can see the groundbreaking changes of that era at a glance. Near the exit, there's even the actual car he used, providing plenty to see until the very end.
🕐 Time Allocation Recommendation: Allocate at least 1 hour and 30 minutes for the entire visit. If you're alone, 2 hours would be ideal for a more detailed exploration.
