🏨🇹🇭 Sukhothai Hotel Bangkok: An Honest Review – Old-World Charm with Room for Warmth

#summervacay
I recently stayed at The Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok, and my honest take is that it was... fine. It didn't particularly stand out, but it wasn't disappointing either. It was just, well, "no praise, no blame."

This is an older hotel, having been open for nearly 30 years, and it's remarkably well-maintained. However, the decor feels caught between a "quiet luxury" old-money vibe and simply being a bit outdated. Some details definitely show their age.

I originally booked this hotel because of its designers, Kerry Hill and Ed Tuttle, who are also behind some stunning Aman properties. Yet, my interactions with the staff felt a bit distant. For example, during check-in, there wasn't a detailed introduction to the hotel's facilities, restaurants, or spa. We stayed for three days, mostly sticking to our room or breakfast, and I even had to proactively ask about the outdoor pool. Perhaps because it's a larger hotel, I just didn't feel as personally taken care of as an individual guest.

On a very positive note, the small coconut water served at breakfast was absolutely delicious!
