Step into Beijing’s pulse with a cultural trio: majestic Tiananmen Square, ancient Drum Tower, and mystical Lama Temple 🇨🇳✨
Kick off your morning at Tiananmen Square (Chang'an Street, 5:00 AM–10:00 PM)—arrive early to catch golden sunlight beaming on the vast square and iconic gates. Must-do: stroll toward Tiananmen Gate for those legendary photo angles of the red walls and fluttering flags. Tip: Watch out for security checks and bring your ID! During weekends, crowds swell quickly.
Next, head north to the Drum Tower (Di'anmenwai St, open 9:30 AM–4:30 PM in winter, 5:30 PM summer). Climb the steep steps for a panoramic rooftop shot over Beijing’s hutongs—definitely worth the effort! Time your visit for the hourly drum demonstration if possible. Note: Stairs are narrow and steep, so wear comfy shoes and pace yourself.
Finish at the Lama Temple (No.12 Yonghegong St, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM, ¥45 entry). This peaceful corner bursts with color and incense clouds. Wander through elaborate halls and snap close-ups of architectural details—roofs, carved lions, and prayer wheels are all Insta-gold. Tip: The temple can get busy after lunch, but quieter in the late afternoon; keep noise and flash to a minimum out of respect.
Precautions: Expect security checks at Tiananmen, mind the crowds at all sites, and check seasonal opening hours—especially during winter months. Stay hydrated (bring a bottle), as outdoor walks between sites can add up!
