Take the subway to Oncheonjang Station and transfer to a community shuttle bus to reach Geumgang Park. Many travel blogs recommend taking the retro-style cable car up the mountain, but since it's only about 100 meters from the entrance to the cable car station, I decided to explore Geumgang Park first.
While wandering around, I noticed a sign indicating that it was about 3 kilometers to the South Gate of Geumjeongsanseong Fortress. So, off I went!
The trail up the mountain is a mix of dirt paths and stone steps, and it's quite clear to follow. Walking through the dense pine forest was incredibly refreshing. Along the way, I passed two observation points, offering expansive views of Busan's cityscape. The scenery was breathtaking, and I was glad I chose to hike up.
After passing the mountain-top cable car station, it was about another 1.3 kilometers to the South Gate of Geumjeongsanseong Fortress. A short detour of about 250 meters led to an observation deck, but the unobstructed views from the mountainside were even more impressive.
Upon reaching the South Gate, I took some photos of the fortress walls before heading back down. On the way, I passed a second observation tower, but the view was mostly blocked by trees. However, I unexpectedly discovered Dongdaebong Peak, which stands at an elevation of 540 meters.
Initially, I planned to follow a different route using NAVER MAP, but I ended up descending via the stone steps back to the mountain-top cable car station. I took a break there, snapped some photos of the retro cable car, and then retraced my steps down the mountain.
