Magical Sunset Horseback Ride Through Göreme's Valleys 🌅🐎

While staying in the peaceful town of Uçhisar, we joined an unforgettable sunset horseback riding tour in the heart of Göreme - and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip to Cappadocia 🇹🇷.

We were picked up from our hotel around 5:00 PM, and by 9:00 PM, we were dropped off again. The experience included about 2 hours of riding through the otherworldly valleys, with a scenic 45-minute break in between. During the stop, the horses roamed freely, while one of our guides brought us fresh grapes 🍇 and cold water 💧.

We rode along narrow, sandy paths, sometimes next to fairy chimneys and ancient cave houses. At times, we found ourselves riding beside quiet roads where cars briefly passed us by 🚗. But nothing could compare to the sunset views on the return ride - the entire valley bathed in warm golden light. No buildings or crowds. Just pure natural beauty. Truly one of the most breathtaking moments we've experienced in Turkey.

At the end of the tour, they offered framed photographs of us on horseback for a small fee, completely worth it as a lovely souvenir.
✨ Insider tips (from me!) if you're planning to go:

🤔 Booking: Reserve online or through your hotel. Choose a tour that includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, as many ranches are remote and hard to reach by taxi. Look for options with solid reviews for peace of mind.
🕘 Best time to ride: Tours are available at sunrise, during the day, or at sunset. We picked the sunset ride, and the views were absolutely worth it.
⏱️ Duration: Varies by provider. Typically 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the route.
👕 What to wear: Wear long pants and comfortable closed-toe shoes. It gets dusty and warm, so don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and maybe a bottle of water.
💶 Cost: Expect to pay around €30-€50 per person. Our sunset tour was €45 each.
🗣 Language: Guides may speak limited English, but they're friendly, patient, and communicate well enough.
🤳 Photos: Once you're comfortable on your horse, it's totally possible to take your own photos (one hand on the reins 🐴, one on the phone!). The guides also kindly take pictures along the way if you ask.

An absolute must-do in Cappadocia - whether you're a couple, solo traveler, or a group of friends.
