On Erhai Lake in Dali, there is a tiny island with a diameter of only 200 meters, known as "Mist-shrouded Putuo," one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Erhai. On clear days, you can gaze at Xiaoputuo Island from afar, where a small island and pavilion stand amidst the water, with the backdrop of Cangshan Mountain, Erhai Lake, blue skies, and white clouds creating a stunningly picturesque scene.
The island features only one structure, the Guanyin Pavilion, originally built during the Ming Dynasty and later renovated in 1982. The pavilion has two floors: the first floor houses a statue of Buddha, while the second floor is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. To visit the island, you must take a boat to reach it.
Xiaoputuo Island resembles a miniature bonsai magnified hundreds of times, surrounded by rocky hills and breathtaking scenery. Every year, migratory black-headed gulls flock to the area, soaring above the lake, creating a magnificent sight.
