Milk Lake & Five-Color Lake

High in the Tibetan Plateau at over 4,500 meters, two dazzling alpine lakes shine like jewels against the sacred peaks of Daocheng Yading. Known as Milk Lake and Five-Color Lake, they are the highlights of the “Last Shangri-La,” rewarding trekkers with unforgettable views.

Highlights:
• Milk Lake (Niunai Hai) – Crescent-shaped, glowing turquoise under the snow-capped Chenresig peak. Its color shifts with the light, from deep jade to aquamarine.
• Five-Color Lake (Wuse Hai) – Smaller but magical, reflecting sapphire, emerald, and amber hues as sunlight dances on its surface.
• Sacred Peaks – The holy mountains of Chenresig and Jambeyang tower above, creating a surreal backdrop.

✨ Travel Tip: Visiting requires a challenging 5–6 hour hike (round trip) from Luorong Pasture, so bring water, snacks, and pace yourself due to the high altitude. September–October offers the most breathtaking views, with golden autumn forests below and fresh snow above.
