Kushida Shrine is one of the most iconic shrines in Fukuoka, boasting a history of over 1200 years. It is also the host site for the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival. The shrine enshrines Ohata Nushi no Mikoto, Amaterasu Omikami, and Susanoo no Mikoto, and is considered an important center of faith for local people, believed to bring prosperity in business and peace to families. One of the most distinctive attractions of Kushida Shrine is the Hakata Yamakasa Exhibition Hall, where visitors can see the luxurious Kazari Yamakasa, which stands over 10 meters tall, and experience the festive atmosphere. Additionally, the shrine is home to a ginkgo tree that is over 1000 years old, which is said to bring good luck, attracting many worshippers. Notably, the shrine is also famous for Hakata Zeniarai, where it is believed that washing money with the shrine's water will improve one's financial fortune. Overall, Kushida Shrine is not only a historic cultural landmark but also a must-visit spiritual site for travelers to Fukuoka.
