Jinhua Thirty-Six Courtyards Creek · Shilily
SHILILY HOTEL JINHUA
Nestled in the mystical realm of "Wong Tai Sin's Stone-to-Gold Touch," passing through ethereal clouds and babbling streams, this 800-year-old ancient village has been reborn in 2,000 acres of wilderness, transformed into "Shilily · Beishan Thirty-Six Courtyards Creek." Crafted with six years of dedication, over 40 old houses have been revitalized, shrouded in mist like a fairyland. It’s a 30-minute drive from the city center, and reachable by self-driving from Hangzhou or Shanghai in 2.5 to 3 hours.
Surrounded on three sides by nearly 2,000 acres of pristine wilderness, more than 40 ancient houses dating back 800 years have been restored, preserving stone walls, blue tile roofs, and ancient carved steles. Thirty courtyards are scattered along the creek, resembling a miniature secret realm of the Taoist Thirty-Six Caves of Heaven. Old beams and antique objects have been skillfully revived by artisans, and decayed trees transformed into unique artistic tables and chairs. Glass curtain walls blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, with tea tables facing bamboo groves and streams, where incense gently rises accompanied by the clear sound of flowing water.
Creekside Restaurant: Dine in a suspended glass house with the stream flowing beneath your feet, featuring seasonal mountain delicacies. The menu highlights local Jinhua seasonal dishes with fresh and delicious ingredients, offering great value.
Shenghua Academy Afternoon Tea: Handmade mugwort cakes paired with misty cloud tea, accompanied by the academy’s thousand-volume library, perfect for quietly watching the sun set. In the evening, you can enjoy a few drinks at the hotel’s mid-mountain bar.
