🏮A trip to discover another side of Ho Chi Minh City in exotic Cholon
"Chợ Lớn", which spreads out on the west side of Ho Chi Minh City, is the largest Chinatown in Vietnam. Streets lined with Chinese signboards, red lanterns, fragrant Chinese food... this is an area with an exotic atmosphere that makes you feel as if you've wandered into China 🇨🇳✨
Cholon is lined with the historic temple "Tien Hau Pagoda", Chinese medicine pharmacies, gold shops, and general stores, and you can feel the difference in culture just by walking. The market is rich in Chinese ingredients and sweets, and it's fun to eat and walk around! 🥟🍵
When I actually visited, I was surprised by the atmosphere, which was completely different from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. This city, where you can get a glimpse into the lives of local people, is a place where you can "travel into their lives" rather than a tourist destination. It is recommended for couples to enjoy different cultures, or for solo travelers to take a leisurely stroll.
It takes about 20 minutes by taxi from the city center. You can also go by bus, but if it's your first time, a taxi is safe. If you have time, be sure to visit Thien Hau Pagoda and Binh Tay Market as a set.
Cholon is where you can see another side of Ho Chi Minh. An experience that will greatly expand the scope of your trip awaits you 🌏
