Located in the northeastern New Territories of Hong Kong, Plover Cove Country Park, covering approximately 4,594 hectares, is one of Hong Kong's largest country parks. Designated in 1978, it encompasses the Plover Cove freshwater reservoir and the surrounding diverse landscapes, including peaks, mangroves, and ancient walled villages. The park boasts a rich autumn landscape. Every autumn and winter (approximately from early December to mid-February), the sweetgum trees and deciduous trees along the lakeside and trails transform into vibrant shades of golden and orange-red, creating a vibrant autumn landscape against the vast reservoir and distant mountains. It's a perfect spot for hiking and photography enthusiasts. Stroll along the nature trails or lakeside paths to admire the intertwining beauty of migratory birds and crimson leaves, and experience the tranquility and natural harmony of northeastern Hong Kong.
Transportation: From Central, Hong Kong Island, take the MTR East Rail Line to Tai Po Market Station. Transfer to Kowloon Motor Bus routes 73A or 74A to Plover Cove Country Park Station, which is a approximately five-minute walk. The park is free and open year-round, but it's recommended to bring plenty of water and food. Visit early in the morning or on a weekday in autumn to avoid the weekend crowds and enjoy the poetic beauty of the crimson leaves and lake.
