Lost high in mountains

Visiting Turtuk Village was one of the highlights of my Nubra Valley road trip. This charming little village, with its maze of narrow, winding streets, felt like stepping back in time. I loved just wandering around, getting lost among the traditional stone houses and lush green fields – a surprising contrast to the usual barren Ladakh landscapes.
The viewpoint here is incredible – you get this sweeping panorama of the Shyok River cutting through the valley, with dramatic mountains towering all around. It’s the kind of place where you just sit and take it all in.
What makes Turtuk extra special is its location – it’s the last village open to foreigners before the Pakistani border. There’s a real sense of being on the edge of something remote. I spent hours exploring, chatting with locals, and soaking in the views. If you’re in Nubra Valley, don’t miss this hidden gem.
