🏨Overview | Overview
I wonder if any of you are like me.
When choosing a hotel in Khiva, I always felt that those "heritage hotels" in the old city, while romantic, weren't necessarily comfortable.
The rooms, converted from colleges, were often cramped and outdated.
The air conditioning, water pressure, and soundproofing were all questionable.
Later, I discovered that Khiva is actually quite small; it's only a ten-minute drive from the city's edge.
So, adhering to the principle of "new over old," I set my sights on the newly built Arda Khiva area.
This is Khiva's recently developed themed tourist area, featuring a large water entertainment complex, an opera house, canal gondolas, and several new hotels.
The streets are clean, with a mix of "old city style and modern entertainment," reminiscent of Morocco meets Venice.
However, it's currently quite unpopular, with few tourists to be seen. It's surprisingly quiet, making it perfect for travelers who want to take photos, relax, and avoid crowds. There are several hotels here, some more expensive, like the Farovon Khiva, but this time I chose the Karvon Saroy for its better value.
🛏 Rooms | In Room
The hotel's public areas and rooms are richly decorated with local characteristics, and each room has a balcony.
The hotel was very quiet, with only three or four rooms occupied, so the atmosphere was quite peaceful.
🍽 Dining | Dining
Breakfast was still buffet style, and the food wasn't reduced due to the small number of guests.
Bread, nuts, dried fruits, and fruit were all available.
While not particularly impressive, they were filling.
🧘🏻♂️ Facilities | Facilities
Forget about the gym or pool.
However, since it's located in a scenic area,
the surrounding area is quite accessible.
The hotel management is a bit lax.
The front desk lady accidentally punched in an extra zero when checking out,
turning the 400-plus yuan room rate into over 4,000 yuan!
The system couldn't reverse the situation.
In the end, they refunded me in US dollars in cash.
Combined with the credit card cashback,
I unexpectedly earned over 80 yuan.
Aside from that,
the overall experience was relaxing and comfortable.
The Wi-Fi was stable and there was plenty of hot water.
🔖Summary | Conclusion
If you don't absolutely have to stay in the old city,
you might want to explore the surrounding areas.
Staying in newer areas like Arda Khiva
will offer a more spacious and quieter travel experience,
and you'll also see a different side of Khiva.
