Koh Phangan Island

A lesser-known destination among Taiwanese travelers, Koh Phangan is mostly visited by Western tourists. The island is famous for its Full Moon Party, held on the 15th of every month. However, when we visited during a weekday, it was incredibly quiet with very few tourists around.

To get there, you need to travel from Bangkok to Koh Samui and then take a ferry to Koh Phangan. Renting a motorbike on the island is convenient, though the terrain has significant elevation changes. Accommodation is quite affordable, with standalone rooms costing less than $2000 TWD per night. Drinks at scenic restaurants are also inexpensive, with prices under $100 TWD per glass, allowing you to enjoy stunning ocean views.

We also signed up for an island-hopping and diving tour. Honestly, there wasn’t much to see underwater, but the scenery above was quite beautiful. If you’re planning a trip to Thailand, aside from Pattaya and Koh Samui, Koh Phangan is definitely worth considering.
