Manukan Island Diving Guide

Manukan Island is a popular diving spot in Sabah's Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, known for its crystal-clear waters, abundant coral reefs, and tropical fish. It is suitable for both snorkeling and scuba diving.

Transportation: Take a speedboat from Jesselton Point in Kota Kinabalu, which takes about 15 minutes. The boat ticket, including the island entry fee, costs approximately 45-55 MYR depending on the chosen package.

Diving Highlights: The coral area on the eastern side of the island offers the best water quality, with visibility exceeding 10 meters. Common sightings include clownfish, blue-spotted stingrays, and sea turtles. Advanced divers can explore a shipwreck at a depth of 18 meters, requiring an AOW certification.

Equipment Recommendations: Bring your own rash guard, dive hood, and eco-friendly sunscreen. You can rent equipment like BCDs and wetsuits. Beginners can opt for diving packages that include instructor guidance.

Itinerary Planning: It is recommended to arrive on the island before 9 AM to avoid crowds. In the afternoon, you can enjoy water activities like parasailing and banana boating. The island offers wooden cabin accommodations that include breakfast and boat tickets, making it ideal for overnight stays and stargazing.
