Wander along Kumamoto Shimodori, a bustling shopping street with a wide selection of Kumamoto souvenirs, drugstores, and clothing.

The morning scenery by the Shirakawa River is beautiful and worth waking up early to see. The morning light on the bridge illuminates the city of Kumamoto. Then, visit the Hitoyoshi Railway Museum. Admission is free and there are some family-friendly facilities and informational displays. It's worth a stroll.
