I visited six of them, each perched impossibly high with views that stretch across the plains. Getting there involves steep climbs, but the reward is worth it: frescoed chapels, flickering candles, and the peaceful hum of monks in prayer. The entire landscape has a sacred energy. I stayed in nearby Kalambaka and woke early for sunrise over the cliffs—a moment of pure serenity. For travelers seeking history, nature, and spiritual calm, Meteora is unforgettable.
