Sapporo Cherry Blossom Viewing Guide: A Spring Story in a Northern City!

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Let me take you there…
From the steaming volcanic valleys of Noboribetsu to the serene blue waters of Lake Toya, every stop in Hokkaido feels like stepping into a different world. One moment you’re walking through bubbling hot spring landscapes, the next you’re cruising beside mirror-like lakes surrounded by lush forests and mountains.
🧖♀️ Tip: Don’t miss the Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley). Go early in the morning to enjoy the mist rising from the earth — it’s surreal and peaceful.
In Sapporo, the energy shifts. The city lights up with culture, flavors, and hidden gems. I wandered down Ramen Alley (Ganso Ramen Yokocho) and found the richest miso ramen I’ve ever tasted — simple, steamy perfection. Later, I watched the sun set at Nikka Whisky Crossing, where old-world charm meets modern city life.
🍜 Tip: Try at least two different ramen spots in Ramen Alley — each has its own signature broth. And if you love whisky, the Nikka shop is a must-stop!
From the cityscape of Sapporo to the tranquil beauty of the countryside, Hokkaido offers both adventure and healing. Whether you’re skiing in winter, flower-chasing in spring, or soaking in an onsen year-round, this island is endlessly rewarding.
🗺️ My personal highlights:
• Noboribetsu’s Hell Valley walk & foot baths
• Scenic cruise at Lake Toya
• Slurping authentic miso ramen in Sapporo’s Ramen Alley
• Whisky tasting at Nikka Crossing
• Getting lost (in the best way) exploring Sapporo at night
So, is it worth the hype?
Absolutely. Hokkaido is not just a destination — it’s a feeling you’ll want to return to again and again. 🌿🏔️✨
