Shanghai | The must try afternoon tea from Peninsula Hotel

To do a full review, my friend and I ordered one traditional afternoon tea set and one natural afternoon tea set.
Afternoon tea usually starts from the bottom tier, with sandwiches such as smoked salmon, cream cheese, and ham. In the other set, the bottom tier featured long finger sandwiches, which are also quite common.
The second tier is usually scones. Following the pre-cut line, you split the scone in half, spread clotted cream on one side and strawberry jam on the other. The texture was very good! There were also some sponge-based cream cakes on the side, with a soft base and a layer of cream on top.
The top tier is for desserts. I think most people would already be quite full after the scones, though the desserts are all bite-sized and each place has its own creative twist. They are on the sweeter side, so pairing them with tea is essential! I tried a chocolate and a macaron — the chocolate was rich and sweet, with delicate internal layers, while the macaron had a taro-like filling, which was quite refined.
