Located in Putuo District along Suzhou Creek, Tian An 1000 Trees is one of Shanghai’s most striking architectural marvels, designed by British visionary Thomas Heatherwick. The building draws inspiration from the misty pines of Huangshan and the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon, creating a breathtaking “floating forest” façade with hundreds of concrete columns, each crowned with lush greenery.

🏙 Architecture & Scenic Views:
Inside, the raw concrete pillars conceal an intelligent irrigation system, and the design’s openness floods the interior with light. Visitors can head up to the rooftop terrace cafés for panoramic views of the Shanghai skyline and the winding Suzhou Creek. At night, the building transforms into a glowing urban forest, with light shows conveying themes of sustainability. A stroll along the riverside here is the perfect way to soak in the breeze and atmosphere.

🎨 Art & Culture Vibe:
Tian An 1000 Trees is also a haven for art lovers. The space is dotted with art installations, sculptures, oil paintings, and small embedded exhibitions. Three giant art-themed elevator shafts were created by contemporary artists, and you can even spot works from Daniel Arsham, KAWS, and others. With its close connection to the nearby M50 Art District, it feels like an immersive art gallery fused with retail and lifestyle experiences.
