Who would have thought that just an hour from Shanghai, you could easily and conveniently visit the Zhujiajiao Ancient Town and Water Market? It's a top-rated tourist attraction in China. Today, I'll share my review, in case anyone's interested in visiting, so they can follow in your footsteps. I can tell you it's beautiful, a wonderful place to stroll around, and a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
📍Location: Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai
🕝 Opening Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
🚊 Getting There: Take Metro Line 17 to Zhujiajiao Station, Exit 1, then walk for about 15 minutes following the map. Alternatively, you can also call Didi.
✅ The highlight here is the beautiful ancient water market, where you can take a scenic boat ride. The boat costs about 40 yuan per person, with only 6 seats per boat. 🛶 There are many beautiful photo spots, and there's a shop that rents traditional costumes and a photographer. They also sell a variety of antique toys. Antique jewelry, traditional Chinese clothing, food, and souvenirs are all very enjoyable. There are so many delicious restaurants. We took a boat to the end of the pier and then walked back. However, the market is divided into two sides, so you can only walk on one side. Those who don't take the boat can stroll around both sides, but it can take half a day.
❎ If you're shopping here, try bargaining; you might find a significant discount.
For anyone visiting Shanghai and wanting to experience the peaceful atmosphere of an ancient riverside town reminiscent of Chinese dramas, this is a great place to visit. I personally loved it and would definitely return if I have the chance to walk around and take photos.
