Suzhou Tongli|A Day as a "Time Traveler" in a Republic of China-Era Girls' School

-
Visiting Tongli Ancient Town in Suzhou during summer not only allows you to experience the serene beauty of a Jiangnan water town but also reveals a hidden century-old gem.
·
Just east of the famous "Retreat and Reflection Garden" in Tongli, the weathered Lize Girls' School has been meticulously restored by Blossom Hill and transformed into a charming Republic of China-era boutique hotel perfect for a relaxing stay.
·
The hotel offers butler services, and upon check-in, guests can explore Blossom Hill and Tongli's major attractions with guided tours. A variety of guest activities are also available by reservation.
·
Entering Lize Girls' School, the first sight is a classic Jiangnan-style garden. The host had arranged our pre-booked incense-making and tea-tasting sessions... offering a taste of the Zen-like elegance with which ancient people spent their summers.
·
Further inside, passing through the Republic of China-era gate, lies the original school building, where guided tours can be arranged. As an institution that transformed the lives of many rural women, its historical significance adds unparalleled charm to the hotel.
·
Now shaded by towering ancient trees, the century-old school exudes a strong Republic of China ambiance.

The arched colonnade on the first floor, the wooden staircases indoors, and the geometric stained-glass windows have all been carefully restored. The refurbished classrooms are also open for visits.
·
Our room was located within the school grounds, featuring retro decor and floral-patterned tiles, with every detail evoking the Republic of China era. Staying for two days and one night felt like living in a frozen moment in time.
·
Architecture is frozen history.

Staying in a local historical building during travels makes for an unforgettable experience.
