Tucked inside one of the charming old shop houses along Takayama’s historic old town, Harada Brewery may be small in size, but it left a lasting impression on me and my family. It’s a cozy, inviting spot that offers an authentic peek into the world of Japanese sake—perfect for both enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.
For a small fee, you can sample a range of their house-brewed sake, which was a highlight for my family members who enjoy a good drink. As someone who doesn’t drink, I appreciated that they also offered snacks made with sake—I tried a few, and they were surprisingly tasty and unique in flavor.
One of the charming features inside is a mock fireplace, which adds a lovely rustic touch and makes for a great photo opportunity. The whole place had a warm, welcoming feel—perfect for a short stop while exploring the old town.
Verdict:
Whether you’re a sake lover or just passing through, Harada Brewery is worth a quick visit. Friendly vibes, local flavors, and a slice of Takayama tradition all in one little shop.
