Just returned from admiring the ginkgo in Nanxiong, and my suitcase still carries memories of golden ginkgo leaves✨ Opening my phone album, I’m still stunned by the full screen of golden hues—turns out Guangdong’s autumn can be this amazing!🌾 From the fairy-tale morning mist at Maozifeng to the thousand-year-old trees in Pingtian, after two days of trekking, I’ve put together a super detailed guide. If you want to see the "Guangdong autumn pinnacle," quickly save this!
🔥 First, solve the century-old dilemma:
Maozifeng 🆚 Pingtian, which to choose?
Tested personally 👉 For Instagram-worthy photos + easy strolls, choose Maozifeng; for experiencing ancient village life + thousand-year-old trees, choose Pingtian! The two spots are about an hour’s drive apart, strongly recommend self-driving 🚗 (public transport is very inconvenient). We rented a car for about 150 RMB/day, parking was free everywhere, super hassle-free~
🍂 Maozifeng Forest Farm | Lingnan’s version of "Little Jiuzhaigou"
📍 Address: Maozifeng Town, Nanxiong City, Shaoguan
🎫 Tickets: 50 RMB/person | Sightseeing bus 30 RMB, a must-buy!
Trekking notes:
Got up at 6 AM for the morning mist! The moment we entered the park, we were blown away—the lake was shrouded in thin mist🌫️ Morning light dyed the ginkgo leaves a pale gold, every snap looked like a fairyland masterpiece! Took the sightseeing bus straight to the "Golden Avenue," where ginkgo trees stand neatly on both sides🍂 Against the backdrop of 1970s old houses, the sound of leaves rustling in the wind was perfect! Squatting down to touch the fallen leaves felt super special, like stepping on a natural carpet~
Secret photo spots 📸:
1️⃣ Xiaofangping: Maximum ginkgo density! The light and shadow through the canopy at 9 AM is stunning
2️⃣ Lakeside boardwalk: Morning mist + reflections make it legendary
3️⃣ Middle section of Golden Avenue: Shooting backs walking toward the camera tells a great story
🍲 Must-eat: Bamboo tube rice by Golden Avenue (25 RMB) with a faint bamboo fragrance, very special!
🍁 Pingtian Ginkgo | Autumn fireworks through a thousand years
📍 Main villages: Aobei Village / Fengwu Village / Junyingzhai
🎫 Tickets: Free but parking fee 20 RMB
Trekking notes:
Speechless after seeing the 1200-year-old ginkgo! The trunk needs three people to hug🌳 The dappled light under the tree is super dreamy~ Fengwu Village was a filming location for "Dear," finding the same old gate from the movie instantly gives you a vintage filter! The best is the sunrise at Junyingzhai🌅 Hiking up the mountain in the dark at 5 AM, watching the sunrise dye the entire ginkgo forest golden, with smoke curling from distant kitchens—it brought tears...
📌 Three must-visit spots:
1️⃣ Aobei Village: Thousand-year-old ginkgo king + blessing and wish-making
2️⃣ Fengwu Village: Movie gate + farmhouse dishes
3️⃣ Junyingzhai: Sea of clouds sunrise, a must-see in life!
🍗 Must-eat: Ginkgo stewed native chicken (58 RMB) with a clear, sweet broth carrying ginkgo aroma, had three bowls in a row!
💡 Lazy traveler essentials:
⏰ Best time: Mid to late November (we went mid-November, 70% golden)
🧳 Must-bring: Foldable storage bag (for collecting ginkgo leaves), thermos, sunglasses, tripod
🏨 Accommodation tip: Stay in Nanxiong city for convenience! (We stayed at Vienna Hotel, about 150 RMB per person)
Final thoughts 💭
Guangdong’s autumn is like a limited-edition blind box, brief but dazzling to the extreme! Watching the golden scenery fade outside the car window, I suddenly understood why people say "Autumn in Nanxiong without seeing the ginkgo is incomplete"...
