Enjoy some solo time in Tokyo here.
🩷Kanda Myojin
A five-minute walk from Akihabara Station. Beyond the skyscrapers, a majestic vermilion shrine towers. This is Kanda Myojin. Founded more than 1,300 years ago, this shrine has long watched over Tokyo as the "main guardian deity of Edo."
Stepping inside the shrine grounds, you'll be greeted by a mysterious, refreshing feeling, as if your heart is lightened by the solemn air. Many reviews have described the shrine as "a power spot" and "a pleasant, soothing breeze," naturally calming the minds of visitors.
Also noteworthy is the cultural facility "EDOCCO" located within the grounds. Experience the charm of Kanda Myojin, where history and modernity blend, while enjoying a sweet treat at the modern Japanese cafe.
While the bustle of festivals and New Year's visits is wonderful, weekday mornings are surprisingly quiet, making it a hidden gem. Why not spend some special "Tokyo time" in this place where Edo atmosphere and Akihabara culture intersect?
🩷Yushima Seido (Yushima Cathedral)
Looking for its distinctive black-painted building and verdigris roof, this temple was originally built by the fifth Tokugawa shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, as a Confucius Temple (Koushibyo), a facility dedicated to Confucius. It played a central role in Japanese education during the Edo period and is still known today as the "birthplace of Japanese school education."
The building pictured is the main hall, known as "Taisei-den," where Confucius and his disciples are enshrined.
