Kyoto | Mimuroto-ji Temple, a famous spot for hydrangea viewing in the suburbs of Kyoto

#Hydrangea

A famous flower viewing spot in the Uji area of Kyoto Prefecture, the hydrangeas at Mimuroto-ji Temple are enormous, practically covering the entire mountain and valley with a sea of blossoms, not just potted plants for photo ops. The temple grounds aren't large, but the gardens are filled with beautiful hydrangeas in full bloom, making them quite captivating.

Mimuroto-ji Temple boasts azaleas in the spring, hydrangeas and lotuses in the summer, and autumn foliage in the fall. It's a renowned flower viewing spot in the Kyoto suburbs. However, access is somewhat inconvenient. While there are buses from Uji Station, the service is infrequent and inconvenient, and the walk takes about 20 minutes.

Entrance fee is 1,000 yen.
