Sukhbaatar Square (also known as Genghis Khan Square) is the central square of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and is one of the most important cultural, historical and political landmarks in Mongolia.
Sukhbaatar Square was named in memory of Damuddin Sukhbaatar, the leader of the Mongolian Revolution in 1921. In 2013, it was officially renamed Genghis Khan Square and restored to its original name in 2017.
In the center of the square stands the equestrian statue of Damudin Sukhbaatar.
At the north end of the square is a magnificent group of Genghis Khan statues, with a seated statue of Genghis Khan in the middle and statues of his son Ogedei Khan and grandson Kublai Khan on both sides.
Important buildings: National Palace (Government Palace) - the office of the Mongolian President, Parliament and Prime Minister.
