This is the real Japan🇯🇵 Small city, Japan's northernmost city Wakkanai Day 1 Guide

#Travel guide #Overseas travel #Travel plan #Japan travel #Wakkanai #Soya Cape #Japanese small city

We often overuse the term Japanese small city.
Places like Kobe and Hiroshima are not really small cities, right?

On the other hand, Wakkanai is a real small city.
The remote location, limited tourist resources, the well digging, and the low houses because there are no people.
But that's why you can really experience the unique small city feeling!
Let's start!

Address: 3 Chome-6 Central, Wakkanai, Hokkaido 097-0022 area

Accessibility: 6 hours by express bus from Sapporo Station.
Price: 12,060 yen round trip

1) Soya Cape

This is the "real" northernmost place in Japan. In fact, it's no exaggeration to say that it's the place that feeds Wakkanai. I tried to write them together, but it became too long, so I separated them. For more details, please refer to the Trip Moment I wrote separately.

The magnificent sea and sky, the world peace contained there, the Russian Sakhalin that can be seen on a clear day, and the location that is not easy to get to. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a place that contains all kinds of romance!

2) Hanaichimonme

This is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that can only be found in Wakkanai and Iwamiza. It boasts a price range comparable to that of the famous Sapporo chain “Toriton Sushi,” but the large neta and shari fill you up quickly, giving it a good cost-effectiveness. In particular, the Hokkaido-style karaage and zangi are very delicious. The staff are very friendly.

3) Wakkanai Fukugo Market

There is a restaurant that recreates the old Wakkanai streets, the northernmost street piano, the Karafuto Memorial Hall, and a bathhouse. It is a place that cannot be missed when sightseeing in Wakkanai.

4) Koyasan Chobukdaiji Shingonji

As expected, it is the northernmost temple. Although it is not very large, it is famous as a photo spot because of the many densely packed points in the small space.

5) Lucky Sasinamu

The Sasinamu, which is usually 60 to 70 years old, has been guarding this place for over 100 years. It is famous as the “Sasinamu that brings good luck,” so please put your hand on it and earn some good luck.

6) Seagull

As expected from a port city, there are many seagulls. In Japan, it is not often that you get a chance to hear the sounds of seagulls instead of crows, so why not listen for them?

7) Pokemon Manhole

The manhole covers of “Alolan Sixtails” and “Alolan Ninetails,” which are popular with people of all ages and genders, are located here. Be sure to take your kids there!

8) Japan’s northernmost Seiko Mart

The Seiko Mart located in Wakkanai Station is fulfilling its role as the northernmost Seiko Mart. Be sure to check out the limited edition Montbell collaboration clothing that can only be purchased here.

9) Russian Weapons

In this place close to Russia, you can see Russian weapons everywhere. Check out the moment when cultures come together and blend together.

Of course, the charm of Wakkanai is not enough to be experienced in a day trip!
Please look forward to the second day's moments as well!
