Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea Scenic Area

Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea Scenic Area (八仙过海景区) is a myth-themed coastal tourist attraction located on the Penglai coast of Yantai City, Shandong Province. Based on the classical Chinese legend of "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea," it is a national 5A-level scenic spot. Covering approximately 55,000 square meters, the architectural and waterscape harmoniously embody a world of immortals atop the sea.

Key attractions include the Palseonbang (八仙坊), Palseongyo (八仙桥), Wangyingru (望瀛楼), Palseonsa (八仙祠), Hoeseonggak (会仙阁), and Baeseondan (拜仙坛), which are connected by approximately 40 buildings and gardens. Climbing Wangyingru offers breathtaking views of the sea and the pavilion, while inside Palseonsa displays sculptures and murals of the eight immortals, offering a glimpse into Taoist mythology and culture.

Furthermore, auxiliary facilities such as Haepyo Island, an observation deck, a walking trail, and speedboat tours make the area popular with families. Speedboats offer panoramic views of the scenic area from the water along the coastline.

Overall, the Palseon and Haekyeong area is a place where natural landscapes and mythical symbols harmonize. While some elements may feel somewhat artificial, the combination of coastal scenery and traditional architecture creates a unique atmosphere. Visit on a clear day to experience the clear colors of the Penglai sea and the world of immortal legends.
