In this beautiful July, I visited a self-catering B&B amidst the beautiful natural scenery of Yanqing, Beijing. I could hear the chirping of cicadas and the throbbing of my heart. Every sunny day since I returned, I've missed the forests and streams of the mountains.
The scorching summer heat is the perfect time to venture out into the suburbs of Beijing and connect with nature. Just an hour and a half's drive away, we stayed at the Zaiyou Dieyuan B&B near Longqing Gorge in Yanqing, Beijing (a green Beijing Health QR code allows for easy check-in). There are five separate courtyards strategically arranged here, and we stayed in the Wisdom Family Courtyard, located directly across the street.
The huge yard has several rest areas, satisfying all of Bobby's wishes for having fun and the whole family to sit around, enjoy the cool air, and chat.
The courtyard, with its mini outdoor swimming pool and small pavilion, exudes a holiday vibe. It's particularly pleasant to sit here in the evening, enjoying the cool air and gazing at the starry sky above the mountains.
This is a five-bedroom, independent courtyard with different room types to choose from. My husband and I chose a room with a bubble bathtub and a large round bed, perfect for honeymooners.
The room was thoughtfully decorated, adding a touch of romance. The heart-shaped towel folds resembled a wedding bed. The high ceilings create a bright and uncluttered space, while the separate wet and dry bathrooms and large bathtub create a vacation-inspired atmosphere. My parents live in the adjacent, modern-style king-size bedroom, a delightfully simple and elegant space. They enjoy the family atmosphere of not disturbing each other while spending time together and caring for each other.
The small details in several rooms are also arranged just right.
The time Bobby spends reading with A's mother is a reflection of the peaceful and tranquil years.
The courtyard's different apartment layouts cater to different family needs and offer varying views. A sun-filled sunken lounge area, a corner staircase, and a spacious kitchen and lounge area create a functional and comfortable temporary home.
Behind the bedrooms lies a tranquil courtyard filled with plants, nestled beside mountains and water, offering a tranquil and relaxing view of the lush greenery.
Passing by the Japanese-style courtyard next to it, the colorful light and shadow are moving and beautiful.
Backed by a mountain, this B&B is themed around cars, and within, you'll find a wealth of interesting automotive decor. The owner, with a 20-year passion for cars and a love of self-driving and a free-spirited lifestyle, created this B&B filled with automotive elements. These elements have become a unique symbol of self-guided travel, making it perfect for family outings. The courtyard also boasts a stunning 6.2-meter-long copper tire, which holds a Guinness World Record.
About 10 minutes' walk north of the B&B is the Longqing Gorge Scenic Area, known as the "Little Li River in Beijing" and one of the sixteen scenic spots in Beijing.
No matter how hot it is in Beijing, Longqing Gorge is still cool and pleasant. In winter, there are the famous Longqing Gorge Ice Lanterns and skiing activities.
Everywhere you go, you'll find beautiful scenery and a tranquil environment, showcasing the wonders of nature.
An open forest wetland park is just a 5-minute walk from the B&B.
There are some feelings that only summer can bring you: woods, streams, a perfect temperature, and the comfort and tranquility of returning home to the countryside. Come to Yanqing Wetland Park and embark on a dreamlike forest journey.
A mountain, a pool of water, and a piece of sky can create your own little world.
Walking among the green mountains and clear waters of streams, rivers and forests brings us a cool breeze to escape the scorching summer heat.
Wash your fruits and vegetables in the gurgling stream. The water is icy, cool, and crystal clear. Whether you're strolling in the forest, playing in the water, or having a picnic, it's easy to capture forest-themed photos in every shot.
Soaking in the cool stream water instantly dissipates the heat in your body.
Take some forest-style photos for A's mom as well. The way you love life is gentle and shining.
Falling in love with the nearby forest stream, we finally decided not to rush to other tourist attractions. We decided to slow down and spend two consecutive days here exploring, taking photos, and savoring this unique tranquility.
The forest stream is the coolest flow of summer. Here, we can deeply connect with nature, where the gentle flow of water and the ever-green mountains remain.
Little Bobby has always been my most loyal companion. The warmth and trust between us make our life full of fresh motivation. Another way to enjoy your trip is to bring your favorite "Komi Life" designer dolls. This time, we brought "General Cat" and "Goodnight Bunny" from the "White Night Fairy Tale" series. We took photos in different environments, such as streams and forests. The dreamlike atmosphere permeated the air, giving the soul a refreshing magical forest and helping us rediscover our true selves.
Whether you're a dreamy little girl or a grown-up mother, you'll love this initial innocence and beauty.
Finally, I took a cool forest-style photo of my photographer, Mr. D. Every trip together is a beautiful memory for the two of us. For the rest of our lives, we'll eat many meals together and take many long walks.
Photoshoot Preparation:
Because the forest is all about eye-catching green, you can choose either a forest-inspired white long skirt or a knee-length skirt. Pairing a long skirt with a wide-brimmed French straw hat creates a French country vibe and effectively repels mosquitoes. A knee-length linen skirt is convenient for playing in the water and, paired with beach shoes, is safe for both swimming and hiking. Paired with a straw hat, the overall look is incredibly comfortable.
For dinner, choose Watt Steamer, the hotel's automotive-themed restaurant, specializing in creative fusion cuisine. The second floor features a larger rooftop terrace, a cozy, open space perfect for barbecues, gatherings, games, and simply enjoying the cool air.
The highlight of Ziyou Zizai Cuisine is the "Watt Healthy Steamer Banquet"! Two super-large steamers can simultaneously prepare a special healthy steamed banquet for 100 people.
The ethereal "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" dish features a delicious double-steamed dish with shredded papaya and potatoes as the main ingredients, and the handmade Longqingxia spring water tofu is fresh and tender.
The tableware used to serve the dishes is also quite innovative. The cool truck-shaped meat patties are crispy and delicious, while the stir-fried eggplant served on a tire plate is ingenious and will whet your appetite.
Poetry and nature are always present when you open a door, turn a corner, or look up.
At night, sitting by the pool and gazing towards the distant mountains, the warm lights in the courtyard and rooms are enough to comfort the tranquility of the soul. This is the quiet and leisurely self-guided car-themed B&B, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
